Cowork

Meaningful work alongside meaningful relationships

The nonprofit cowork floor is where The Daisy's mission turns into everyday work: a home for community builders, nonprofit leaders, social innovators, educators, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and civic changemakers.

The Idea

A community of practice

Connected to the Brawn Family Centre for Community Innovation, the cowork floor is where that work happens day to day, and where its stories get told. It brings together people working on complex challenges so they can find one another, learn from one another, and build momentum together.

At its best, organizations achieve more together than they could alone, introductions become partnerships, and community builders feel supported, connected, and part of something bigger than themselves.

Example uses

  • Daily work and collaboration
  • Cross-sector meetings and working sessions

How it is designed

  • A mix of focus, collaboration, and convening spaces
  • Strong visual openness and connectivity
  • Flexible spaces for workshops and learning
  • Natural light, wellbeing, and comfort throughout
  • Clear connections to the cafe, rooftop, and event spaces

How it comes alive

  • Peer learning, mentorship, and leadership programming
  • Ways to engage residents, students, and organizations
  • Cross-sector collaboration and collective impact projects
  • Volunteer, philanthropy, and civic participation opportunities

The Role of the Host

Curated, connected, alive

The space works best when it is actively hosted: not just desks and meeting rooms, but introductions, peer learning, mentorship, leadership programming, and cross-sector collaborations that make Calgary's civic ecosystem stronger.

  • Introductions lead to partnerships.
  • Residents, students, and organizations meet in useful ways.
  • Community builders feel supported and part of something bigger.
